Val Pellice Trekking: Discover Rifugio Invincibili, Piedmont

27 June 2026

Discover an off-the-beaten-path valley that's 100% outdoor!

In Val Pellice, specifically in the municipality of Villar Pellice, you'll find the Rifugio Invincibili. It's a destination we at Verticalife have only recently discovered, but it's quickly becoming one of our favorite spots for weekend adventures and escapes from city life.

That's precisely why we want to highlight it and share its beauty with our community, offering inspiration for your next mountain adventures.
The refuge is nestled in the Vallone degli Invincibili, which lends it its name. This valley, in turn, draws its name from the glorious history of the Waldensians, who sought refuge among these mountains to escape persecution.

The refuge's location is ideal for excursions during the shoulder seasons and winter, as it enjoys excellent sun exposure, receiving much more light than the valley floor towns.

It's easy to reach on foot, either by following a dirt road from the hamlet of Bessè, or via a lovely forest trail. Alternatively, it can be the destination for longer hikes connecting various hamlets on this side of Val Pellice, such as passing through Sarsenà, Barma d'Aut, or Pertusel.
All these routes are consistently accompanied by stunning views of the Val Pellice peaks (to name a few: Granero, Manzol, Frioland, Meidassa, Boucie) and Monviso.

From the refuge itself, perched halfway up the mountain, various trails lead further up the Vallone degli Invincibili or deeper into it, inviting you to discover its characteristic wild nature.

For those of us who love rock climbing, there are several sectors offering a variety of ascents: from single-pitch routes to multi-pitch sport climbs and even those with an alpine feel. The mountain guide who manages the refuge, along with his wife, has bolted several routes on the valley's beautiful rocks, and we guarantee they all deserve to be explored!

Excellent rock and perfect bolting ensure a truly rewarding climbing experience, surrounded by a spectacular and unspoiled panorama.
We've personally visited Crouchou d'Pan, just behind the refuge, and Lou de P'chit (Falesia degli Invincibili). We recommend both, especially the latter for its location and the opportunity to try some multi-pitch routes on the impressive Poli Tower. We'll be returning soon and invite you to visit the refuge to discover this hidden gem within the already tranquil Val Pellice.
And don't forget to savor the delicious dishes they prepare – it would truly be a shame to miss them!
