Verticalstory

When Verticalife was founded, we didn’t yet know that one day we’d launch a tour operator.

The name was born from our desire to create a lifestyle philosophy of our own. All ropes, skis, boards, crampons, and peaks. We were teenagers, but the vertical life—our Verticalife—was already there.

Back to Earth is our promise to Mother Nature, thanking her for everything she offers by celebrating with travel solutions designed to fully satisfy you and connect you with her.

Back to Earth is our ode to returning to the Earth, to our origins: in a highly technological era, the soul needs to rediscover and fulfill itself. Verticalife plays the role of ‘Charon’ for adventurous souls in search of genuine, authentic fun, made of beauty, nature, and connection with both the environment and fellow travelers. Back to Earth is our act of respect: a promise from our modern community of people who draw strength and beauty from Mother Nature and choose to be a part of her fully, with appreciation and awareness.

We've traveled the world, explored unknown places and cultures, north and south of the equator, backpacks on, to discover our own boundaries. Along the way, we met fellow explorers who, like us, chose to journey into nature—our true destination. We formed a bond with them and became a scattered, itinerant community of essential travelers. And from this personal experience, after seeking far-off places, we decided to return home to found our sports association in 2009, gathering explorers from all over the world, time and again.

In our hometown of Turin, we realized the importance of our land and the path we needed to take to promote its value. We embarked on training courses to guide explorers through the authentic landscapes of our valleys and to accompany travelers in discovering our environmental heritage. We organized events, itineraries, gatherings, and countless excursions, until, in 2016, happiness took the name Verticalife Outdoor Travel Company — our tour operator.

Our method

Outdoor for everyone

All the activities we offer follow a principle rooted in the rhythm of the seasons, allowing us to find the best possible itinerary from each one.

We’ve made “Outdoor for Everyone” our motto, and to make this possible, we created our own method, the Verticalife Model. Every location we offer has been part of our lives, first as travelers and then as organizers.

Today, they’re destinations we share with our verticalpeople: our explorers.

Our Guides

To deliver truly authentic experiences, we’ve created a carefully selected network of local guides.

We involve our local guides right from the selection of activities for each region where our journeys take place.

This way, we provide a personalized, free consultation that assesses the fitness level of our clients, always before embarking on a new adventure. At this stage, we choose the best route and, if necessary, craft a custom experience. We can adjust the itinerary, length, add new activities, or reserve one of our guides for a private tour—any time of year.

Our guides are mainly locals who deeply know and respect their regions, preserving their rhythm and traditions.

Conscious Travelers

Since Verticalife’s founding, we’ve sought to offer our travelers a sustainable alternative to mass tourism, promoting a low-impact approach and actively working to safeguard the land.

Today, we’re among the primary tour operators pledging formal commitment to ecological transition for increasingly earth-conscious tourism. We aim to create a new way of outdoor travel—one that teaches essential, low-waste tourism that reduces all unnecessary consumption. For this reason, we’ve obtained Travelife certification for sustainable business management, prioritizing eco-conscious practices in everything we do, from our offices to working with partners and suppliers that share our commitment to nature and outdoor-centered experiences.
