Since 2014, it has also been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.
The landscape here alternates between towers, vineyards, orchards, forests, and the wild beauty of the "rocche," a natural phenomenon of river erosion by the Tanaro River. The sandy cliffs of the hills form sharp rocks and imposing natural amphitheaters, where visitors can explore by following the paths of the farmers.

The lakes of Piedmont are among the most popular destinations for visitors from abroad, an attraction for those who don't enjoy the long lines on the roads to the sea but also an opportunity to explore unique villages, fauna, and flora. Among many others, the Lake Maggiore stands out, a stunning area nestled between the mountains, adorned with gardens full of exotic plants that thrive thanks to the mild climate both in summer and winter. The shores of Lake Maggiore are dotted with small beaches, also found along the smaller Lake Orta, a gem nestled between Mount Rosa and the plains of Novara, surrounded by quaint villages like Omegna and the Island of San Giulio.

  • Why go: To relax and cool off in peace, avoiding the chaos of beaches
