Our tips on clothing and equipment to bring for a freeride skiing/snowboarding tour.
This list is based on the extensive experience of our staff in the activities we offer. It’s designed to help you pack your backpack and make any necessary purchases before departure. It also outlines the clothing, equipment, and materials required to join our tours.
If you’re missing any items, please inform the guide or our office; together, we’ll find the best solution before departure, allowing you to enjoy the experience in complete peace of mind!
Basic equipment and clothing for 1-day freeride tours
- Safety kit (ARTVA, shovel, and probe)
- 30-liter backpack (with rain cover)
- Ski or snowboard boots
- Skis or snowboard suitable for off-piste
- Poles with wide baskets (for snowboarders, better if foldable/telescopic, useful for flat sections)
- Helmet
- Waterproof jacket with hood and wind stopper (shell)
- Compact down jacket
- Ski or snowboard pants
- Short or long tights (if cold and/or windy conditions are expected)
- Fleece
- Breathable t-shirt (and a spare)
- Long-sleeve thermal shirt
- Warm socks
- Scarf or neck gaiter
- Hat and cap/bandana
- Sunglasses and/or goggles
- Gloves
- 1-liter water bottle
- Snacks (we recommend dried fruit, dried fruit, and chocolate)
- First aid kit (gauze, band-aids, tape, disinfectant, latex gloves, emergency blanket)
- Gaiters (if not integrated into the pants)
- Headlamp
- Sunscreen
- Multi-tool (optional)
- Carabiners and cords (optional, for securing any equipment that doesn't fit in your backpack)
Extras or variants for multi-day freeride tours
- 35-40 liter backpack (with rain cover)
- Extra breathable t-shirts
- Extra underwear
- Extra fleece (if needed)
- Extra socks (warm and/or light)
- Extra snacks
- Waterproof bags for clothes
- Comfortable long pants for the evening
- Cotton t-shirt for the evening
- Towel (recommended microfiber)
- Toothpaste and toothbrush
- Toilet paper
- Identification document
Plus miscellaneous items such as:
- Phone and/or camera charger
- Book (if you have an e-reader, save weight)
- Compressible daypack for use in the evening or for short trips near the hotel/mountain hut
For the overnight stays in mountain huts
- Sleeping bag liner (mandatory, usually available for purchase at the hut)
- Earplugs/sleep mask
- Extra cash for hut payments
